Julia Antonelli Career

Julia Antonelli has built her acting career step by step, beginning with childhood performances before moving into television, film, and professional theater. Her early interest in performing led her to musical theater and live productions, where she developed her confidence as a young performer. That experience eventually helped her transition to television, and she landed one of her first major roles as Jessie Novoa in Nickelodeon’s Every Witch Way. She later reprised the character in WITS Academy, establishing herself as a familiar young face on Nickelodeon.

As Antonelli grew older, her career gradually expanded beyond children’s television. In 2016, she appeared as Katie in Right Hand Guy, followed by a role as Young Maggie in Trouble in 2017. She then played Grace in Alex & Me (2018), a family sports film featuring soccer star Alex Morgan. Her television credits also grew with a guest appearance as Siena in the Showtime drama Billions in 2020. These roles allowed Antonelli to gain experience across different genres while preparing for the part that would become the biggest breakthrough of her career.

In 2020, Antonelli joined Netflix’s Outer Banks as Wheezie Cameron, the younger sister of Sarah and Rafe Cameron. The role introduced her to a much wider international audience and became her most recognizable character. She continued appearing as Wheezie throughout the series, including its fifth and final season. The success of Outer Banks helped establish Antonelli beyond her Nickelodeon beginnings and gave her the opportunity to take on more mature projects as her career developed.

Her film work continued alongside Outer Banks. Antonelli appeared as Marken in Tubidy in 2021 and played Dani in the short film The Satchel and the Pink Wig in 2023. That same year, she took on a more mature role as Teen Elaine in Ari Aster’s psychological horror-comedy Beau Is Afraid, starring Joaquin Phoenix. Her later screen credits include Disclosure Day, where she appears as a teenage girl. Together, these projects show how her career has gradually moved from family-friendly television toward more varied film and dramatic opportunities.

Theater has also become an important part of Antonelli’s development as an actress. After years of working primarily in television and film, she stepped into professional theater with Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s production of Billie Jean. The stage role gave her a chance to explore performance in a completely different setting and demonstrate that her abilities extend beyond the screen. For Antonelli, theater represents another opportunity to challenge herself creatively while building experience outside the Outer Banks universe.

When it comes to awards, Antonelli has not yet received a major individual acting award nomination or win, such as an Emmy or Golden Globe. However, her growing recognition has largely come through the popularity of the productions she has joined, particularly Outer Banks. Being part of the show's successful ensemble has helped raise her profile, while her expanding film and theater credits demonstrate that she is building a career based on more than one role.

With Outer Banks coming to an end after its fifth season, Antonelli is entering an important new phase of her career. She graduated from Fordham University in 2025, and her professional theater work and recent film appearances point toward a future that could include more challenging adult roles, independent films, and stage productions. Rather than being defined solely by Wheezie Cameron, Antonelli now has the opportunity to use the experience she gained as a young actress to explore new characters and genres. Her next projects could therefore play an important role in showing audiences what she can do beyond the series that made her famous.
