On December 9, 1978, Jesse Metcalfe was born to Nancy (née DeMaio) and Jeff Metcalfe in Carmel Valley Village, California. His father is of French and Italian descent, while his mother has Italian and Portuguese ancestry.

Jesse’s paternal great-grandfather, William Harry Metcalfe, was born in Yorkshire, England, and then moved to Massachusetts, where he met and married his wife, Catherine Young, Jesse’s great-grandmother. When he was 3 years old, Jesse’s parents split, and he moved with his mother to Connecticut.
