Manny Jacinto, aka Manuel Luis Jacinto, is a Filipino-Canadian actor who wanted to be a civil engineer before becoming a dancer. However, he later took acting as his full-time career option and landed minor roles in series like 'Once Upon a Time,' 'iZombie,' and 'Supernatural,' among others.

In 2015, he displayed exceptional acting in the Canadian spy drama 'The Romeo Section,' for which he was nominated as the Best Supporting Performance in a Dramatic Series (Leo Awards). 

Then, his break-out role came on the NBC sitcom 'The Good Place,' where he portrayed the role of Jason Mendoza. He got critical acclaim for his performance since he defied stereotypes about Asian males in Hollywood.

Likewise, he has been part of movies including 'Tele,' 'John Apple Jack,' 'Fix,' 'Dead Rising: Watchtower,' 'Even Lambs Have Teeth,' 'Brittney Grabill: Goodnight,' 'Peelers,' 'Chocolate Cake,' and 'Bad Times at the El Royale.' He is also set to be part of the 2022 film 'Top Gun: Maverick.' 

The 34-year-old has also modeled for Ark and Hardihood clothing brands.

Dating, Girlfriend, Engaged

On November 10, 2019, the actor announced he was engaged to his longtime actor girlfriend, Dianne Doan. 

When he appeared on a panel for Vulture Festival with fellow 'The Good Place' cast members, he revealed that his character Jason Mendoza pushed him to pop the question.

 Vulture reported,

"I (Jacinto) was toying when to pop the question for a long time. I looked at the Janet/Jason relationship, and there’s a sentence that Jason says to Chidi about relationships and it hit me pretty hard. I thought it was a sign that I needed to do it, and a week later I popped the question."

To make the occasion even more memorable, he took his girlfriend to places that marked essential moments in their relationship. 

I took her to places that really meant a lot to us. Where I first met her, where I first saw her, where we had our first date, and where we had our first dance class. 

I had these canvas things written down with a message saying why the places were important to us. At every location I had her close her eyes, I’d hold up the canvas, and she would open her eyes.

He thought Doan was expecting the proposal in the first place, but it came four stops later, to her surprise.

 He took her through five special places, and at the last place, he had his family (including Doan's parents) waiting, where he finally popped the question.

Manny Jacinto was born Manuel Luis Jacinto on August 19, 1987, in Manila, Philippines. The Filipino-Chinese descent actor migrated to Canada with his family in 1990 when he was just three.

He was then brought up in Richmond, British Columbia, where he played baseball and basketball as a child.

For his education, he attended Vancouver College, an all-boys Catholic high school. Later, he earned his civil engineering degree from the University of British Columbia.
