On July 21, 1989, Chelsie Hightower was born to Mr. Hightower and Mrs. Hightower in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was raised in Orem, Utah by her family. Chelsie grew up with her twin and four older brothers until her parents got divorced in 2006. Chelsie has not disclosed any detailed information about her father or about her mother. She was enrolled at Timpanogos High School in Orem to complete her primary education and was later sent to Utah Valley University to complete her education.

Chelsie Hightower began dancing when she was nine years old and also gained conventional training from the age of 14. Chelsie gained training in ballroom, Jazz, Ballet, and Hip hop. She has also performed at many musical theaters across the nation and was able to gain her first national title at the age of 11. In 2005, Chelsie competed in the U. S. worlds on the team USA in the British Open in Blackpool, England.

Chelsie made her debut TV appearance in the fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance at the age of 18. Her performance with Mark Kanemura on the song Bleeding Love which was choreographed by Nappy tabs, Chelsie was nominated for an Emmy.  Chelsie was eliminated from the reality show in 2008 after being selected in the top six. Chelsie later returned as an All-star and a choreographer in season 10.

Chelsie then appeared in another reality show called Dancing with the stars as a professional dancer along with her dance partner Ty Murray who is a nine-time world champion rodeo cowboy. In season nine, Chelsie was paired with a professional snowboarder Louie Vito but they got eliminated in week six, coming in eighth place. Recently, Chelsie joined the 50+ city Live tour along with the Dancing with the Stars judges.
