Andrews has been private about her relationship for years. She revealed on the Straight to Cam podcast that they have been together since 2018. The couple first met in 2017 while covering a Knicks vs. Cavaliers game at Madison Square Garden.

McMenamin proposed to Andrews on Thanksgiving Day in 2022. They kept their engagement private for 21 months while planning their wedding.

The wedding ceremony took place at Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, California, overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. The event featured basketball-themed details, including a seating chart designed like a tournament bracket.

Malika is trained with the Sports Journalism Institute and was sports editor and editor in chief of her college paper. Luckily in the year 2016, NBA insider for ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski was on the University of Portland to record a podcast with the new head coach Terry Porter. There Adrian happened to pick up the college paper “The Beacon”. After graduating a year later, Malika was introduced to Adrian at a summer league game. But to her surprise, Adrian already knew her name.

Before joining ESPN, she took her star quality to the Denver Post and also worked for the Chicago Tribune as a reporter.

Educational Backgrounds

Malika Andrews initially attended Head Royce School but was kicked out from there in 8th grade due to an eating disorder. 

As a middle-schooler, Malika Andrews was angry, depressed, and anxious. She fought with her parents, flunked out of middle school, and even suffered from an eating disorder, which was very confusing for her and also for her family.

However, her parents were very supportive and loving, and the whole family coped with the situation in a proper way. 

At the age of 14, she was sent to a therapeutic boarding school in Utah and graduated from there at the age of 17. Malika found herself and considers it one of the best things that could have happened to her.

For about a year after completing her schooling, Malika worked at a Civil Rights law firm owned by her maternal grandfather.

Later, she joined the University of Portland, where she gained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She earned honors in the year 2017.

During her University days, Malika was the writer, sports editor, and editor-in-chief of the university's student newspaper named “The Beacon”.
