Married Life & Husband
Cheryl Burke tied the knot with American actor Matthew Lawrence on 23rd May 2019. Cheryl and her husband started dating back in 2007 and their relationship was her first healthy relationship.
Their initial encounter was while Cheryl was in DWTS season 3 Tour. Cheryl was partnered with former NFL player Emmitt Smith in the season and in the very same season, her husband Matthew’s brother Joey Lawrence was partnered with DWTS pro, Edyta Śliwińska. Cheryl first met Joey’s younger brother Matthew in between a show in Los Angeles. Matthew complimented Cheryl saying she was cute and soon love blossomed in between the pair.
However, their love life wasn’t so smooth as they broke up in a little less than a year in 2008 but they eventually rekindled their romance after 10 years in 2017. Cheryl’s sister Nicole stole her phone and texted emojis to Matthew and he responded right away.
Her sister and her whole family loved Matthew from the very beginning and out of all her boyfriend Matthew was their favourite one. Matt wanted to go to dinner so, the same night they had the warm dinner and they picked up where they left off.
Matthew wanted to wait until her actual birthday and time of birth and he even got a beautiful room at their favourite hotel in Laguna called the Montage. He had left a letter with beautiful ambience and music.
Cheryl initially thought it was like a breakup letter but in fact, it was a proposal letter but it had tiny writing so, it was difficult for Cheryl to read so as she turned around to ask Matthew about what was written in the letter, he was on one knee. The duo then got engaged on Cheryl’s birthday in 2018 (3rd May 2018). Her dad wanted Cheryl to have the diamond that he gave to her mom and Matthew got the ring.
Furthermore, Australian professional ballroom dancer Kym Herjavec is a really good friend since DWTS season 3 and she has also seen the pair's journey together. So, Kym insisted to throw a beautiful engagement party for the couple and it was a party that was never going to happen as this was the time when her dad just passed away.
On her engagement, her step-dad said a special speech and after her engagement party night, Cheryl stopped drinking.
Prior to meeting Matthew, Cheryl Burke had abusive relationships. She initially, started dating at the age of 13, but she didn’t find her voice until she was in her early 20s and started performing in Dancing With The Stars.
