Alan Bersten started dancing just at the age of 7 alongside his brother Gene. Growing up the Bersten brothers disliked dancing initially but eventually they started to enjoy and like it. Alan’s parents were adamant that their kids keep dancing as ballroom dance is hugely popular in Russian culture.

The Bersten brothers’ first dance studio was a room that their parents had rented. Their parents opened a dance studio at the Sabes Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park and initially, the brothers danced locally and gradually rose to success on the national dance scene.

Later, Alan’s family also opened Magic Ballroom School of Dance in Hopkins where his elder brother Gene used to teach just at the age of 16.

As of now, Alan participated in DWTS season 30 with American television personality, dancer, author, and fitness instructor Amanda Kloots and the pair became finalists and secured 4th place.

Early in his dancing career, Alan won the Youth Championship and the Under 21 National titles. But as Alan looks back to his early days, he didn’t dream of making a career out of dancing but as he auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance Season 10, and made it to the Top 20 he realized that he could pursue dancing as a career.

Alan then began his journey as a member of troupe on the Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) season 20 and after 4 seasons, he made his debut as a professional partner in DWTS season 25.

In DWTS season 25 he was partnered with American actress, singer-songwriter and producer Debbie Gibson and the duo placed 12th place in the show.

In DWTS season 26, Alan was partnered with the Japanese-American figure skater Mirai Aileen Nagasu and they were eliminated in the 3rd week of the show. Likewise, in DWTS season 27, he was paired with American social media personality and model Alexis Ren and they ended up securing 4th place in the show.
