James Rash is an actor, comedian, and filmmaker from the United States.

He was nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2012 for his performance as Dean Craig Pelton on the NBC comedy Community (2009–2015).

The same year, he earned a nominated for a Golden Globe as one of the authors of The Descendants and won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

That explains why in 2012, six years before the post, he acknowledged himself as gay. He went on to say that he thought it was the perfect moment to tell everyone his tale and that he didn't regret 'not coming out sooner.'

In terms of his love life, the northern California native is said to be single, having never married or had a wife. He's also quite discreet about his personal life; thus, his love life is kept a secret.

Rash was born James Michael Rash on July 15, 1971, in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

His original parents are unknown since he and his sister were adopted as children by a loving family.

He lost his adoptive father a few years ago. He does, however, still have his mother at his side.

He was a student at Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduation, he spent a year at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, as a post-graduate student.

In 2005, he got a noteworthy and prominent role in the Disney picture 'Sky High,' while appearing on television in various roles.

On That 70's Show, Jim Rash played Fenton regularly. In 2009, he was cast as Dean Craig Pelton, a supporting character on 'Community,' and was later upgraded to series regular.

In 2012, he and his comedic writing partner Nat Faxon received an Academy Award for co-writing a screenplay for the film 'The Descendants,' based on Kaui Hart Hennings' novel of the same name.

Rash has several Disney voice parts, including Principal Slimovitz's animated series 'Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja.'
