Jackie DeAngelis was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer on June 17, 2021, after her first routine mammogram at age 40. On July 6, 2021, she underwent a bilateral double mastectomy performed by a specialized team at NYU Langone.

At the time of diagnosis, she was presented with two treatment options: a lumpectomy that would require radiation, chemotherapy, and ongoing surveillance, or a mastectomy, and she chose the double mastectomy to reduce future risk and avoid additional treatments.

In the past, the surgery was reported as successful, and she was sent home cancer-free, with early detection playing a critical role in saving her life. She notably returned to work on FOX Business just 13 days after surgery.

However, she later acknowledged that it was extremely physically demanding, as she was still unable to lift her arms properly. Over time, it became clear that her recovery was more complex than initially understood, as the reconstruction process led to chronic pain and physical limitations that lasted for nearly two years.

In late 2023, she underwent a third corrective surgery to address these complications, and she has since shared that this procedure finally brought significant relief and allowed her to feel like herself again.

In the present, as of late 2025, Jackie DeAngelis remains cancer-free and continues to use her public platform to advocate for early detection and breast cancer awareness, reflecting on the fact that catching what she has called an “invisible” cancer early ultimately saved her life and marked four years since her diagnosis.
