Gardner Minshew played quarterback for the Brandon Bulldogs at Brandon High School from 2011 to 2014. He began his college football career in 2015 at Northwest Mississippi Community College. He later transferred to East Carolina University and then to Washington State University.

At Washington State, he emerged as one of the nation’s top quarterbacks and won the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year award in 2018.

Minshew’s professional career began when the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract worth $2.71 million, with an average annual salary of about $677,721.

He made his NFL debut on September 8, 2019, against the Kansas City Chiefs after starting quarterback Nick Foles suffered a shoulder injury. In that game, Minshew recorded an 88 percent completion rate, the highest single-game completion percentage in Jaguars history.

After his time in Jacksonville, Minshew continued his NFL journey with multiple teams. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2021 to 2022 and the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. In 2024, he joined the Las Vegas Raiders, starting nine games before a broken collarbone sidelined him in Week 12. He was released in March 2025.

As of the 2025 season, Minshew signed a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs worth $1.17 million. He served as the primary backup to Patrick Mahomes and stepped in as the starter following Mahomes’ season-ending injury.

During this stint, he sustained an injury and is currently on the Injured Reserve list. Minshew is scheduled to become an Unrestricted Free Agent in March 2026.

Gardner Minshew was born on 16th May 1996, in Flowood, Mississippi, to Flint and Kim Minshew. He has 2 younger sisters, Callie Minshew and Meredith Minshew. His sister Callie is an athlete, while his other sister, Meredith, is an MSU graduate and, as a freshman, was on MSU’s volleyball team.
