Initially, Steve Kerr started his professional career as a basketball player in 1988 when Phoenix Suns selected him in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft. He was with the team for one year that is till 1989. He was then traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1989. He was there for three seasons from 1989 until 1992. Kerr joined the San Antonio Spurs in January 1999, and later that year he assisted the team in winning its first NBA championship. He earned his sixth NBA title in 2003. Following the 2003 NBA Finals, Kerr made his retirement announcement. He participated in 910 regular season games throughout his NBA career.
