Bernice’s grandmother disowned her and kicked her out of the house, and she must live with her boyfriend’s mom doing chores because she was unable to pay rent. That burden also affected her studies, and Bernice had to drop out of school. She is now a mother of two daughters, the youngest of whom is named Sarai, who was born in 2006.

After Bernice dropped out of school, she started to work as a bartender, and on the side, she tried modeling. From there, she began to get several magazine offers, such as chances to feature in magazines such as SHOW and XXL. Bernice made her first video appearance in J. Cole’s video for the song " Work Out. After 10 years of having Ashley, Bernice welcomed her second child, a daughter, Sarai, in 2006.
