American actress and singer, Mary Steenburgen is one of the prominent icons in the field of entertainment. She first started gaining recognition after portraying the character of Lynda Dummar in Jonathan Demme’s 1980’s movie named Melvin and Howard.

For her mesmerizing performance in this movie, she has also been able to win awards from various associations including Golden Globe award and Academy Awards for the category of the best-supporting actress. Family And Short Bio

Born on 8th February 1953 in Newport, Arkansas, Mary’s mother Nellie Mae was a school-board secretary and her father Maurice Hoffman Steenburgen worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a freight-train conductor. She also has a sister named Nancy who is a teacher by profession. 

She was enrolled to study drama at Hendrix College in 1971. Subsequently, in 1972, she auditioned for New York City's Neighborhood Playhouse and got selected to study acting.

At the reception room of Paramount's New York office, Steenburgen was discovered by the film's director Jack Nicholson and was cast for the lead role of the 1978 Western Goin' South.

First Husband And Divorce:

The "Step Brothers" actress Mary has been married twice. In the beginning, she tied the knot with her Time After Time co-star, Malcolm McDowell. McDowell has portrayed the role of author H. G. Wells in the movie Time After Time and Steenburgen has a leading role as a modern woman who falls in love with H. G. Wells.

They have two children together; Lilly McDowell and Charlie McDowell. Their togetherness could not last long as they got divorced on October 1, 1990.

Blissful Relationship With Ted Danson

Mary later married actor Ted Danson, whom she met at the age of 40 on the set of Pontiac Moon in the year 1993. She became the stepmother of Ted’s two daughters Kate and Alexis.

Ted recalls that they went out as friends, and by the time they came back, they were already in love. Almost after two years of dating, the got married in 1995. The couple has now been married for 23 years and even after spending 26 years together, they never stop expressing how madly in love they are.

During PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive 2018 issue, the Book Club star expressed that she's more in love with her husband Ted Danson than ever. She said,

“[Our love] just gets more profound and deeper as we go through the blessings and joys, but also the hurdles, of life together. He is my partner in the deepest sense of the word in this life.”

Similarly, her husband Ted also never gets tired of complimenting his wife. In an interview with AARP The Magazine in September 2017, he stated that he likes the way his wife laughs and smiles. He even loves her sense of fairness and right and wrong. Although he feels a little awkward to say in his 70's, he thinks that his wife is sexy. 

When there are news of breakup or divorce in Hollywood every other day, Mary and Ted have proved that not all Hollywood marriages fall apart with time. They are still head over heels in love with each other and are giving major relationship goals. As a couple, they never leave a place to surprise and make each other feel special for being together.

The duo now lives in Los Angeles and shares a good relationship with their children and grandchildren.
